Summer isn’t over just yet………
I couldn’t let this month go by without a final salad to see us through the season. And this Melon & Cucumber Salad is a banger. Showcasing Honeydew, the unsung hero of the melon family, this virtually monochrome dish of sweet, hot, refreshing crunch will carry you happily through these last warmer days alongside basically everything.
I urge even the “fruit in salad” resisters to give this a go. Personally, I can’t think of a better way to enjoy the final days of summer……
Autumn Classes are Open for Booking
It feels like forever since we cooked together in the kitchen. I hope you have also had a wonderful Summer break. I’ve tickled my tastebuds in Portugal and France and now back in my happy food place for the next week or so. But it’s time….the doors are open again I am so excited to invite you all back around the island for this new series of classes that are now up and ready to book. Simply click on the title link of any of the classes to book your space.
In September kicking things are kicking off with a very special collaboration with my exceptionally talented friend and baker Badannie, of Piped Dreams Bakery fame.
Piped Dreams Bakery x Building Feasts are Building Dreams Together
Challah and Honey Cake
Wednesday 18th September 10am – 1pm
I am so excited to share this pre Rosh Hashanah spectacular collaboration between two friends who met over their love of baking. Please join us for a very special morning together where you will take part in a New Year Challah Bake with Badannie (of Piped Dreams Bakery) and I will share my Apple & Honey Cake recipe, perfect for the festivities to come.
This will be much more than a regular baking or cooking demo. We will share a celebration of heritage and tradition and create our own community gathering, welcoming together anyone who wants to participate in the process, hone their challah or baking skills and enjoy new ways to share food with family and friends and friends like family.
Please click on the link above for more details about the morning and to book tickets to what we hope will be the first of many Building Dreams events.
Following on from our dreamy baking morning, I will be resuming classes in the regular evening format, packed with new recipes and my ways to share food with those you love. I will continue to build on all my favourite hacks on how to make a meal without breaking a sweat and how to celebrate without the stress.
Tuesday 24th September 2024 7.30pm
Please join me in the kitchen as we prepare a seasonal festive feast, fit for any celebration but one that also encompasses all the flavours of Rosh Hashanah. We will not only make simple and beautiful dishes for you to recreate all year around for your festivities, but I will also walk you through how to shop, plan and cook for a crowd.
I will teach a spiced pomegranate marinade that works on chicken, lamb and salmon, a selection of vegetarian sides including a seasonal green apple vinaigrette to make your salads sing and a dessert.
Wednesday 9th October 2024 7.30pm
Because no one want to cook from scratch every night, I am going to walk you through my Cook Once Eat Twice philosophy and explore a variety of ways to make extra and use the leftovers as a second weeknight meal saviour. And it will give us an amazing opportunity to use all those gorgeous Autumn vegetables too. It’s a win win!
These will be predominantly vegetable heavy recipes to suit all palates and perfect for gearing up for cooler months
Wednesday 6th November 2024 7.30pm
As the days get shorter, it’s the perfect time to open up our kitchens for low key meals with friends. I will walk you through my favourite simple recipes for low key gatherings to see you through the cooler months with a low and slow braise and some killer sides. Think of this as comfort food thats good enough to share.
19th November 2024 7.30pm
This class sold out in record time last year, so I thought I would offer it again with a whole new selection of trimmings and sides for the Thanksgiving/Christmas season. Please join me in the kitchen on the 19th November at 7.30pm as I walk you through the festive season with all the trimmings and none of the panic.
Before I Go…..
I shared my favourite green chilli sauce, Schug, over on YouTube and Instagram a few weeks ago and I love seeing how many of are enjoying having it in your fridge. It’s just the perfect condiment and adds that little bit of zing to your dishes. The hawaii spice mixture that I mentioned in the recipe definitely caused a little bit of a stir. When I am not bringing back my Middle Eastern spices from the markets in Tel Aviv, I order them on line from Med Cuisine whose range is superb both in quality and selection. (PS this is not an ad, I’m just sharing the love).
And if you missed the videos, the recipe is right here. Schug will be making an appearance alongside some new recipes coming soon………because it’s so good you need it on hand at all times.
I have a number of private group cooking sessions already booked up for the Autumn, but I still have a few dates available so please do get in touch if you are interested in gathering a crowd for a class tailored to your menu and theme.
I hope you enjoy the last few weeks of Summer. As always its such a pleasure to be here with you. xx
